Protest at Adidas distributer, Footlocker, in Leeds

What’s happening? People and Planet have called for protests around the UK against Adidas for refusing to pay their former Indonesian workers $1.8 million in legally-owed redundancy pay. The workers were originally paid $0.60 per hour to sew Adidas apparel on trainers. In 2011, the owners abandoned the factory leaving the workers jobless. To date, Adidas have since refused to pay the wrrkers any of their legally-owed redundancy pay. Whilst the workers have been struggling to pay for their rent and children’s education ever since, Adidas have sponsored the Olympics $100 million as well as Justin Bieber to lose his bloody golden shoe. This isn’t acceptable. Leeds Met Greens, as well as Leeds Green Action will therefore be protesting outisde Footlocker (a major distributor of Adidas wear) on Commercial Street in Leeds to ask Footlocker to sever ties with Adidas and to inform the public of Adidas’ cruelty.

When? Monday 22nd April13.00
